Provincial Regulations

Ensuring public safety and wildlife conservation also requires adherence to the Wildlife Act of British Columbia, under which attracting dangerous wildlife is considered a punishable offence.

Protocol for Orphaned Black Bear Cubs

Learn about the Province of British Columbia's response protocols regarding orphaned black bear cubs. In spring 2026, an orphaned cub was safely rescued in the neighbouring community of Heffley Lake. To help ensure the welfare of local wildlife, please report any suspected orphaned cubs in Sun Peaks directly to the SPBA team.
